Senator Barack Obama didn't leave his vision to chance. Whether you wanted him to win or not, his campaign was clearly a technological savvy, social network oriented, well managed systematic powerhouse! His campaign raised a record amount of campaign contributions, was the clear front runner in many demographics - ie. young people, hispanics, etc. It was clear that this campaign was a well thought out plan.
Now lets look at how you can apply some of these solutions to your business and increase your awareness and your bottom line.
1. Social networking - Using these sites - Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Ning, etc. to build relationships is the least expensive way to let others know you exist and about your business. Take the time to build relationships on these sites and offer your expertise and knowledge as a way for others to get to know you and your business. You don't have to let it overwhelm you. Set yourself a goal to network with a person a day or maybe set yourself a weekly goal. But the most important thing is this is a way for you to gain exposure without expensive ads.
2. Email - Opt in email marketing...what a way to get your message out to your customers. Do you have all of your customers email addresses? Do you have a systematic way of collecting this information from your customers? If you don't, put something in place now. It doesn't have to be some elaborate system. Simply asking for it at checkout the next time they purchase something or by following up with an inquiry and asking for their email address to communicate further possibilities are simple ways of creating this information. In a world of instant gratification, you can follow through with your customers and offer outstanding service all by having their email address. NO SPAM! Spam is not worth it and will not further your cause in the long run. You want to build relationships and that is a very difficult way to start by unsolicited emails.
MOST Important Tool
Planning!
Barack Obama's campaign strategy was multi-faceted. They had a plan b, plan c, plan d to reach the 270 electoral votes. How many ways do you have to reach your goals? Are you solely relying on one method of advertising and promotion? Sit down and plan out a strategy to try new things.
Senator Obama is living his dream....on January 20th, 2009 he will be MR. PRESIDENT! What dreams will you achieve by applying these tools to your business?
